Why This Matters to You

When you sign for a freight delivery, you are acknowledging that you have received the shipment in good condition. This means that if any damage is discovered later, and you did not note it at the time of delivery, it may be very difficult to get a replacement or file a successful claim.


Your Role in the Process

Here's what you need to do when your order arrives:


  • Inspect: Carefully examine ALL packages BEFORE signing the Bill of Lading (BOL). Look for any signs of damage, no matter how small. This includes:
  • Obvious damage: Crushed boxes, torn packaging, scuffs, holes, dents, etc.
  • Concealed damage: Anything that might suggest internal damage (e.g., a box that sounds like it has loose parts rattling around inside).
  • Mark the BOL with "Damaged": This is critical! If you find ANY damage, write the word "Damaged" clearly on the BOL. Do not use any other words or phrases. Even if the damage seems minor, it's essential to mark the BOL with "Damaged."
  • Scan the QR Code: A QR code will be located on the shipping label. Scan it with your smartphone to access detailed instructions and a quick claim filing process. You can also file a damage claim by using this link https://www.optimacompanies.com/claims.
  • Take Photos: Take at least 5 clear photos of any damage to the packaging and/or the items themselves. You must clearly show the damaged packaging and the damaged product.
  • Failure to write "Damaged" on the BOL may result in the denial of your claim, even for concealed damage.
